I started Bollywood Christmas six years ago after coming back from a trip to India. We brought back with us some beautiful hand made decorations that had caught our eye as they were so different to the mass market Christmas decorations we were used to seeing in the U.K.

After encouraging comments from friends who admired the decorations we decided to offer them to a wider audience. Using two small independent suppliers who have been with us ever since, the journey began. Five seasons later and we are exhibiting at the UK's best Christmas markets and shows, and trading through our ecommerce site.

All our decorations are still of the highest quality. They are hand made and hand painted using mostly exclusive designs for Bollywood Christmas in India.

Our paper mache is hand made and beautifully hand painted by craftspeople in Kashmir providing artisans with employment in their own homes. Painting paper mache decorations by hand is a delicate decorative art introduced to Kashmir in the 15th Century. We love it for its vibrant colours, complex patterns and artistic flair.

The beaded embroidery is called Zardozi embroidery in India and is made in Rajasthan. As well as embellishing the attire of the Kings and royals it was also used to adorn walls of royal tents and ceremonial weaponry. Our range of embroidery comes in various different colourt themes (including gold,red,silver, cream and purple) and all are adorned with sparkling beads and sequins- they definitely have some Bollywood bling to them!
